A historic spa centre just a short distance from Lake Endine, already famous in Ancient Roman times, where health and wellness can be restored by its sulphurous waters.
In the 19th century, the sulphurous waters of Val Cavallina were amongst the most prestigious in the country, and they attracted not only people from all over Italy, but also American travellers who made a stop here for an invigorating break.
It was the soldier of fortune Bartolomeo Colleoni, in the service of the Republic of Venice, who in the 15th century commissioned the refurbishment of this spa centre, ordering the construction of white marble columns and vaults in brick and tuff. Still today, here there is a mysterious face sculpted on a capital: it depicts Colleoni’s daughter Medea, who died from a pulmonary disease at the age of 14. And it was here that her father, abandoning his battle armour, chose to create a memorial to his daughter.
In the 19th century, the sulphurous waters of Val Cavallina were amongst the most prestigious in the country, and they attracted not only people from all over Italy, but also American travellers who made a stop here for an invigorating break.Even Giuseppe Garibaldi, the hero of the two worlds, was one of the illustrious guests of the Trescore spa, whose sulphurous waters have for centuries been famous for their curative powers.
Pools, whirlpool baths, check-ups of your state of health, massages and complete spa treatment cycles: these are just some of the services offered at Trescore, combining procedures for rehabilitation, nutrition and the treatment of respiratory tract pathologies, along with sessions of aesthetic spa medicine. There are many packages and combinations available to benefit your health.
Natural health is available even in junior format at Trescore: the spa offers valuable help for mothers and fathers who prefer a reduced reliance on antibiotics and pharmaceutical preparations in looking after their children. According to the Fondazione per la Ricerca Scientifica Termale (Foundation for Scientific Spa Research), spa treatments reduce the risk of relapse in the case of respiratory system pathologies and otitis infections.
Today, the spa’s modern facilities include a comfortable hotel set in verdant surroundings, and a totally green hostel in a 19th-century hotel enjoying a superbly panoramic position. Who knows whether Garibaldi would have still created Italy, or whether he would rather have spent more time here enjoying the delights in the comfort of the terrace?
