Valle delle Sorgenti (Valley of the Springs) and the Biopark

Gaverina Terme

A green area where you can reconnect with nature and discover the Val Cavallina district, with its biodiversity, culture, agriculture, food and wine.

A two-kilometre network of paths winds through the thirteen hectares of the Gaverina Terme oasis. Following these paths set in natural surroundings, you will encounter farmsteads, ancient roccoli (bird-trapping structures), spaces dedicated to educational and open-air activities, and opportunities for learning more about local history and culture.

The heart of this green area is the ancient hamlet of Trate, where, in addition to tasting local products, you can discover the history and culture of the valley, from theory to practice. From the educational and training spaces at Cà del Valù, to the stables, where you can meet horses, goats, donkeys, cows and sheep and discover their role in the life of the local community, involving domestic economy, breeding and food production.

From the Borgo Antico, you can then venture along the Sentieri della Memoria (Paths of Memory), a network that crosses the entire green area, which has survived the abandonment of rural life and now offers an opportunity to discover valleys, granaries, barns and hamlets, where you can even spend the night immersed in nature.

From the animal world to plants, the process of rediscovering the territory also comprises greenhouses and vegetable gardens where ancient crops have been revived, and with them the rural memory of the Val Cavallina valley: an experience that continues at the table and in the shops inside the Biopark, where you can enjoy a pleasant food and wine experience.

Among the woods and meadows of Valle delle Sorgenti, you can also try the “woodlands sport”: equipped with a map and compass, you can take part in orienteering activities, trying to complete route sections in the shortest possible time, finding your way among the streams and glades of this natural paradise, where getting lost is a pleasure and finding your way back to the path is real fun.

The Associazione Bioparco della Val Cavallina (Val Cavallina Biopark Association) is responsible for the enhancement of this natural area.
