The gateway to a little corner of paradise. Some of the most beautiful trails in the area start from this village in the Lower Val Cavallina.
The present community of Cenate Sopra was born at the behest of Cardinal Carlo Borromeo, who, by founding the parish church of San Leone Magno on this ancient nucleus, marked the memory of the original inhabitants of the place that still retains the name, San Leone.
Coming down from the “perola”, arriving from the city after the hairpin bends, a long straight road opens before your eyes. As you leave the woods, the spectacle of this little corner of paradise is unmasked, where the lush greenery of Mount Misma becomes an invitation to stop and breathe deeply. Hidden in the woods is also preserved the famous and popular Valpredina Nature Oasis, an area of valuable naturalistic value. Continuing toward the summit is guarded the precious Church of Santa Maria in Misma, of great historical and artistic value.
There are also many trails in the greenery around Cenate Sopra, such as the path from the village of Sant’Ambrogio leading first to the small church and then to the summit of Mount Misma.
