A day in the beautiful Val Cavallina in the province of Bergamo, discovering the historical, artistic and natural heritage of our territory!
This trip will allow you to discover Lorenzo Lotto’s frescoes in the Suardi Oratory in Trescore Balneario, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Luzzana and, while walking in nature, encounter Giosuè Meli’s sleeping stone The Giant!
MODULE for up to 3 classes. Aimed at primary and lower secondary schools.
PROGRAMME:
MORNING – DISCOVERING THE FRESCOES BY LORENZO LOTTO (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.):
– Welcome in Trescore Balneario at the office of the Pro Loco of Trescore Balneario – Infopoint Val Cavallina, Via Suardi 20, opposite the sports hall;
– Guided tour of the Suardi Oratory in the park of Villa Suardi;
– Packed lunch in the courtyard of Villa Suardi;
– Educational workshop with an educator on the farms of Villa Suardi.
Recommended workshops for primary schools:
– Lorenzo Lotto’s apprentices (6-11 years old);
– Let’s become prophets and sibyls (6-11 years old);
– Puzzling and enigmatic games with Lotto (10-12 years old).
Recommended workshops for lower secondary schools:

AFTERNOON – IN ART AND NATURE (12.30 p.m. – 5 p.m.):
– Lunch break 12.30 p.m. – 2 p.m.;
– Arrival in Luzzana at 12 p.m./12.30 p.m. and welcome at Castello Giovanelli;
– Packed lunch in the park of Castello Giovanelli, home to the prestigious Museum of Contemporary Art of Luzzana – Donazione Meli;
– Castello Giovanelli is not only an evocative medieval building that has been completely renovated, but also has toilets and disabled access in accordance with current regulations;
– The park below has wooden tables and games for recreation;
– For those who wish, or in case of adverse weather conditions, there is the possibility of having lunch indoors in a completely renovated medieval hall equipped with tables and chairs.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME (2 p.m – 4.30 p.m./5 p.m.):
– Admission to Giovanelli Castle;
– Distribution of an art licence to each participant;
– Screening of an introductory video on the art and nature of Luzzana;
– Guided tour of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Luzzana – Meli Donation, which houses the sculpture collection of artist Alberto Meli, with Dadaist works by Arp and paintings by Ester Gaini Meli;
– Visit to the museum room dedicated to Carrara marble sculptures by 19th-century artist Giosuè Meli;
– Opportunity to visit the ancient medieval tower of the Castle (by reservation);
– Guided historical walk through the ancient medieval village to Giosuè Meli’s “Il Gigante” (The Giant): an evocative rock sculpture carved into the living rock;
– Museum Diffuso tra natura e arte (Museum spread between nature and art). A nature trail with an “adventurous walk: Who’s afraid of the woods?”: along the nature trail that leads to the pleasant waterfalls of the Valle dell’Acqua, following the Bragazzo stream.
COST: full day €15.00 per pupil (for visits to the Tower there is an additional cost of €2 per pupil – for English-speaking guides there is an additional cost of €2 per pupil).
Free participation for teachers, accompanying adults and pupils with disabilities.
