Resistant vines: the frontier of sustainable viticulture
In Cenate Sopra in the WWF nature reserve of Valpredina, Nove Lune, a new, high-tech winery producing entirely organic wines, was established in 2009.
The company’s vineyards are located in a hilly position, which allows the vines to enjoy an optimal position to create wines rich in aromas.
Founder Alessandro Sala follows a sustainable philosophy: producing quality wines without the use of environmentally harmful substances and using disease-resistant vines, from which you can eat the grapes right off the vine!
“Nove Lune is the point of arrival and departure of my path, which through organic viticulture has led me to move towards something even more ecological such as resistant vines, which are therefore called super-bio. Naturally disease-resistant vine varieties (called “Piwi”, “fungus-resistant vines”) make it possible to produce quality wines by almost eliminating the use of fungicides and other chemicals such as herbicides and fertilisers, safeguarding the health of consumers and the integrity of the environment.
Ecology is or should be everyone’s heritage and for me, this can only be conducted transparently, between ethics and the art of living”.
THE WINES
Lively and original wines that preserve all the peculiarities of the grapes and the territory of origin, made as naturally as possible, without the interference of chemicals.
