Grand Tour of Pranzà

Entratico

ENTRATICO – COLLE GALLO – PRATI ALTI
A grand tour around Mount Pranzà, where you can get your legs moving and enjoy the views of Val Cavallina and the Valle del Lujo, with a pleasant final trail. Up to Prati Alti, you will always pedal on asphalt; this is the most comfortable and fastest way to climb to the saddle between the peaks of Misma and Pranzà, from where you can also undertake other descents.

ITINERARY DESCRIPTION
From the car park in via E. Mattei di Entratico (1), take the Val Cavallina cycle path that runs alongside the Cherio and follow it faithfully (blue markers) in the direction of Lake Endine. When you reach Casazza (2), at the end of via Vittorio Emanuele, leave the cycle track and cross the Cherio, continuing along via XXIV Maggio to the provincial road, which you will follow to the right. Shortly afterward, turn left at the traffic lights and follow viale della Vittoria to piazza della Pieve. Drive through the village, following the road signs for Gaverina Terme. The road is smooth and never too steep. After Gaverina, pass through the locality of Piano and finally reach the sanctuary of the Madonna del Ciclista at Colle Gallo (3), from where the view sweeps over Val Cavallina and the waters of Lake Endine. In the church square there is a drinking fountain and a kiosk, and there is also a small cycling museum nearby. The farm Agricola del Colle has a space nearby; make room in your rucksack and buy a good piece of cheese or salami.
Start descending along the asphalt road in the direction of Valle del Lujo – Albino. When you reach the hamlet of Casale (4), near a widening with a fountain, take a small road to the left (CAI signpost 513) in the direction of the “Sentiero del Castagno” and Prati Alti – Misma. The small road is completely asphalted and crosses the entire northern slope of Mount Pranzà, first passing through meadows dotted with farmsteads and then through the Bosco del Fellongo. The first part is smooth and fast, while in the second you will have to tackle three short, steep ramps, which will take you to the Prati Alti pass (5). Here the asphalt ends and the view opens up over Val Cavallina and the plain.
Now follow the asphalt road that descends to the right and bears the signs for Mount Misma (CAI signpost 513). The little road is flat at first and then begins to climb steeper and steeper with an intense section that culminates in a new plateau until the sign indicating to the left for Prati Alti (CAI signpost 609). Turn left and follow this beautiful uphill path until you reach the summit of Corna Clima (6).
From the summit of Corna Clima, a signpost with directions to Trescore (CAI trail sign 610) gives directions to the right to begin the descent. The path, at first narrow and flowing, becomes technical and leads to the first crossroads: keep to the right following the signs for Sant’Ambrogio – Cenate Sopra (CAI signpost 609), where a nice single track begins with hairpin bends and rocky stretches.
The track is enjoyable and leads to Pozza Vac, where you continue straight ahead, still following the signs for Sant’Ambrogio. This is followed by a nice flowing section, where you let your mountain bike run wild, until you join the concrete road, which you ride along for a few metres and then turn right, following the path marked CAI 609. The route becomes technical and leads you back onto the concrete road, which you follow until you come to a dirt road on the right (CAI 608) which you take.
In a short time, the dirt road becomes a path and passes close to a house; at the fork, climb to the right on a path that takes you to the top of a hill. After crossing the clearing of a hut, follow to the right a beautiful and rewarding flowing descent, which crosses the forest and leads to a private road with a paved surface, and finally to a gate with a free passage to the left.
You are now in via Sant’Ambrogio di Cenate Sopra (7); follow it until you join SP 65, which you follow as far as the traffic lights at Trescore Balneario (8). Cross the provincial road and head towards the town centre, then follow it to the thermal baths.
From there continue to Zandobbio and, immediately after crossing the bridge over the Cherio, turn left onto the Val Cavallina cycle path, which you follow to the starting point.
