These hills, located between Val Cavallina and Lake Iseo, dominate the valley and the entire plain with their tapered but majestic mass, covered with green meadows and populated by pastures.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recent revaluation has allowed this area of rare beauty to become a popular tourist destination for both hikers, thanks to routes suitable for\u00a0everybody,\u00a0and\u00a0sportsmen\u00a0practicing different disciplines such as mountain biking, horseback riding, paragliding, and hang gliding.<br>Like all the villages in Val Cavallina, Grone had its\u00a0greatest\u00a0period of development and splendor in the Middle Ages. There are still\u00a0<strong>three towers<\/strong>\u00a0dating from that period that testify to the importance of the village, which at that time was dominated by the powerful Suardi family. During excavations for the reconstruction of the\u00a0<strong>parish church<\/strong>\u00a0in 1928, remains of a fortified building were found, probably ones of a castle, traces of which have gone. Inside the\u00a0aforementioned church, rebuilt on the foundations of a small church dating back to the 14<sup>th<\/sup> century,\u00a0there\u00a0are some paintings by Cavagna and valuable carved wooden works.<br>Also of unique interest is the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/invalcavallina.it\/en\/place_of_intrest\/acqua-sparsa-mill\/\">Acqua Sparsa Mill<\/a><\/strong>, the last active one in the entire valley. The present mill has a wooden structure dating back to 1930 and operates by a combination of water power and electricity.<br>Near the hamlet of Grone, trekking enthusiasts can take path n\u00b0 614, which leads to discovering the surroundings, among chestnut forests, panoramic views, and the small Church of San Fermo.
