In the valley’s smallest village in Upper Val Cavallina, there is the typical quiet and peaceful atmosphere of historic villages, among cobbled alleys, medieval walls, and charming hidden courtyards. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located 600 meters above sea level, the village of Bianzano is best known for its castle.\u00a0Suardi Castle<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is a fine example of a little-known but remarkable culture and history. The well-preserved building is set halfway up the hill, and from its walls, one can admire\u00a0Lake Endine<\/strong>\u00a0and the unspoiled nature that surrounds it.
Visiting the castle and the village of Bianzano allows you to breathe in the magic of past centuries and to find various pagan and religious symbols carved into the walls and the stones of the gates, bearing witness to the mysterious legends that tell the story of this castle.
But that is not all. In the summer, every two years, the courtyards, loggias, and streets of the village are enlivened by many characters in period costumes during an evocative medieval historical re-enactment that has become a tradition since 1997.
IN THE VILLAGE’S SURROUNDINGS<\/strong>
On the hill opposite the village of Bianzano is the\u00a0Sanctuary of Santa Maria\u00a0Assunta<\/a><\/strong>:\u00a0a small country church surrounded by greenery dating back to the 13th<\/sup> century. Here\u00a0mystery\u00a0and legend are especially intertwined in the adjacent ancient cemetery area.
Weather permitting, around\u00a0Bianzano\u00a0it is possible to take beautiful walks along the marked and easily-accessible paths that connect the village with neighbouring municipalities. For example, the Strada degli Asini (Donkey Way) and the via Lud\u00f9 that lead to Spinone; the walk along the old Valle Rossa road, right on the border with Val Seriana, rich in wild medicinal herbs and crystal clear pools of water.
Also recommended is the walk that leads to the Cross right at the top of Mount Crocione overlooking the town, with breathtaking views of Val Cavallina and the lake.
Lastly, walking along via Toreto, the wonderful Roccolo di\u00a0Tor\u00e8\u00a0is worth a stop, and then reaching, if you are well trained, the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Altino.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
