Rebuilt in the 11th<\/sup> century<\/strong>\u00a0with larger dimensions on the pre-existing small church of San Carpoforo, the church of San Vincenzo<\/strong> is oriented towards the east with an entrance door surmounted by an architrave with a lunette with unique features in Romanesque art. The door is placed in the centre of the northern side\u00a0and\u00a0on its right shoulder is a part of an\u00a0early medieval dedicatory plaque<\/strong>\u00a0on which, in corroded but heavily engraved characters, one can read the Germanic name\u00a0Robertus<\/em>\u00a0and the final invocation\u00a0Venturus es Futurs es.<\/em>, while the rest of the engraving is indecipherable. The finely squared\u00a0stone structure<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0southern wall<\/strong>\u00a0can\u00a0be attributed\u00a0to the\u00a0pre-existing church<\/strong>, where\u00a0various reclaimed materials were used. Outside the side door, in what used to be a small cemetery, there is\u00a0a tomb arch<\/strong>\u00a0made of sloping stone in the Capuchin style, which, according to ancient tradition, is connected to the small church of San Carpoforo. During\u00a0restoration<\/strong>\u00a0work in the\u00a020th<\/sup> century<\/strong>, an additional\u00a0engraved slab dated 1489<\/strong>\u00a0came to light. In the centre of the apse is an arched window\u00a0unusual\u00a0in Romanesque architecture. The Torre complex, with a papal bull,\u00a0in\u00a01121\u00a0<\/strong>became part of the substantial\u00a0possessions of the Benedictine monastery of San Paolo d’Argon<\/strong>, under the jurisdiction of first the Cluniac Prior and then the Cassinese Abbot.
For this reason, the church of San Vincenzo, as the\u00a0church of the Torre community<\/strong>, was replaced by that of San Cassiano, which is also located not far away and isolated in the middle of the fields. San Cassiano reduced to ruins as early as the 16th<\/sup> century,\u00a0was adapted\u00a0as a Santella in the following century. The back wall on the west side of the church of San Vincenzo, completely rebuilt in the mid-14th<\/sup> century, has a circular opening with a contour of shaped bricks and river pebbles arranged in a fishbone pattern. It appears that an arch, possibly the entrance to a masonry enclosure, was attached to this wall to the south. Some\u00a0restoration<\/strong>\u00a0work was carried out\u00a0around 1550<\/strong>, while\u00a0in 1575<\/strong>,\u00a0first\u00a0the presbytery<\/strong>\u00a0was\u00a0frescoed<\/strong>, then\u00a0a bell was put in<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0finally,\u00a0the cattle cemetery was secured\u00a0with a fence<\/strong>.
The interior, with a single nave<\/strong>, is divided by arches into three bays with an exposed wooden beam roof and ends with the presbytery. Under\u00a0the rose window is the altarpiece depicting the Coronation of\u00a0Mary\u00a0donated by the monastery of San Paolo in 1780.\u00a0In 1797, after the suppression of the monasteries by order of Napoleon, the oratory first became the property of the hospital of Bergamo<\/strong>, which inherited the property from the Cassinesi of San Paolo d’Argon, and later private property<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
